Berkeley planes
« on: February 07, 2008, 11:19:32 PM »
Ohhh, Berkeley. My all time favorites. Pitts Biplane, got one. Gift from a friend, from his late Dad. Cosmic Wind kit? Looked for 2 years, no dice. John Pond passed, his grandson sent me a plan prior to AMA sale. Chris McMillan has some Berkeley planes, hope he posts some pics. My first & foremost is that Cosmic Wind, but still looking for a metal cowl for my Pitts.
Please post some Berkeley projects, guys! (I'm still trying to master this picture-posting skill)

Hi Mike,

I have corresponded with Chris for years about the Berkeley kits.  I had a Pitts in 1963!  It had a Green Head .19.

My brother (53 yrs young) just won a Berkeley Cosmic Wind on eBay! All the metal pieces, wheels, etc. Brother Bob also has a large vacu-forming machine. (for those delicious metal pieces)

Mike,

If it is any way possible, I would like to get tracings and vacuum formed parts in the future for the Berkeley Cosmic Wind.  I cannot do it right now, but see if your brother will trace the parts not shown on the plans and make them available.

Thanks!

I'd take a complete Berkeley B-25 kit in a heartbeat, and build it. y1

My all time Berkeley score would be a B-17 kit.

Back around 1972 we were flying on a ball diamond right beside a road.  A fellow stopped by, stayed a few minutes, left and returned just before we were leaving.  He parked his car beside ours and opened the trunk to reveal a MIB Berkeley B-17.  Which he immediately said was NOT for sale! LOL!!  The guy was lucky that I'm a nice guy................ ;D

I have a Berkley Ram-Rod 600 that is a nice kit. Recently recieved a Berkley Guardian Stunter that looks good also. I have some of their catalog sheets . Kind of neat stuff. Have a Sterling sheet and Comet sheet.
