I think the same thing about Randy's Cobra. It also looked good before he refinished it. As a side note Brodak has the short kit available again for the Cobra. I got one through SShobbies this week. They also have the landing gear wire available. Now if I can only do it justice.

Robert

Yea, shame it's sitting down in Tucson at Da Smiley's house. Shoulda had Mike Haverly pick it up for me this last VSC. Sigh... Well, it will be there next March when I go down, I guess.

Don,

What really doesn't show in the pictures is, the clearcoat on this plane (catalyzed polyurethane) had a LOT of alabaster pearl in it. It was wierd flying it in the sun. There the plane would be then as it went through a loop, it would hit the sun and turn silver all over. Then fly through and be back to the colors you see again. Interesting effect (though it make it kinda werid to fly until I got used to the effect).

Matt,

It's not that long. It's just narrow and makes it look really long. The Cobra is a sexy plane. I sort of miss the girl on the wing.   ;D

Yes Ty, I really do like the Ares, if I could just get my engine troubles worked out, it will probably be my best flying plane.

Went looking on the forum and found some more pics of Cobra's for all too enjoy and I just had to post this picture of this incredible Ares (I believe it is Jim Tichy's right?)  H^^

Randy...Mike and I were in my Toyota at VSC, and we didn't have room for your Cobra, tho I would have traded the Skylark for it in a NY Minute. Did Pat ever get the control system revised on the plans, so it works right? I know PW had just as much trouble flying his as you did with yours, due to following the plans. I think he used the magazine plans, however, while I guess yours came from Pat's plans and WU's kit?

Matt...here's Randy's Cobra Gurl. A pretty hot unit! I really liked the yellow paint job, gurl or no.  LL~ Steve

Matt,

The stab span on the cobra is a little more that standard for the mid sixties, in fact it is 24" in span according to Tom Morris' Classic Era Construction Drawings.

That picture doesn't do it justice, the color selection is *perfect*, the execution is *perfect*, everything about it as as good as this event gets. The only airplane I ever saw that I thought was as good or better was Larry "Joey Jr." Fernandez' PT-19.
