Flew my 59 Thunderbird II today
« on: March 03, 2019, 04:34:26 PM »
We finally had a day that allowed some flying at least for a few hours Took out my restored 59 T Bird II . I flew it on 61' lines eyelet to eyelet. .015. Handle spacing at 4 1/4" I used my well broken in La 40 with 11x4 Zoar prop. Tank  is 5 oz uniflow with muffler pressure. She flew well inspite of the fact that the adjustable lead out lost the cinch screw. The all up weight is 45oz. She turns very well. I was feeling her out and did two clovers plus all of the other stuff. Can't wait to get her out again. I'm going to try longer lines like 64'........Skip

Yes it's silk,yellow,with clear dope.

Skip,

I love that colorscheme and trim! y1   Is the yellow dyed, or perhaps yellow silk, or is the yellow a color dope?

Mind if I copy it on my next model(s)?

Ty and Joe.....I can't take credit for the finish on the wing and stab. When I got the plane none of that was damaged.....All of the work I did was on the fuselage (the tail was knocked off) and installing a new cockpit and canopy. One of the challenges was to get the paint to match!......Skip
