I laughed when I read the white pants comment, because I was just wondering where he was going to find pants to match the plane! LL~ H^^

John's white pants are full of glue. (Remember those Ambroid days?)

John also claims that the white pants shrunk!

This is the week that I go through withdrawals.

I hope that everyone has a great time at VSC. Please say hello to everyone for me.

I had a picture posted last year of John at the appearance judging at VSC XX.   Besides I think white pants and loafers get you down graded at VSC.  I love the handle John.  Mucho better than the one I did for my Accentor.  DOC Holliday

Thanks guys, I think.  ::)

Well, though they did really shrink, I did bring my white pants for contest days. Wait 'till you guys see them. You're gonna be soooo jealous. ~^

Well I hope John posts the complete story as he pulled the "Torino" out of contention.  Looks even better in person as Ty says.  DOC Holliday

Unfortunatly, I had to pull the Torino from competition right before the first official flight. It had developed a little slop in the controls where the wire joiners go through the booms. It started to experience flutter on the outer portions of the flaps. At first it was very minor, but eventually got worse to the point I feared the plane would self destrucy if I flew it any more. So, I reluctantly scratched it and brought out my back up.

The fix should be easy once I get home, but too much to do properly here.

Other than that, I'm having a blast, and wish you all could be here.  H^^

I wish I could be there too.  How did it fly until the slop started to show up???

I can relate to that.  My grandfather has a Black Tiger that he was going to let me fly at a contest, but when I flew it, the plane would absolutely not turn at all.  I flew it once before, and it flew fine.  Well when I landed it, I complained that it would not turn.  He went to see how much slop was in the controls, and there was 1/4 inch of slop in it, much more than there was before.  He cut it open to get at the controls to see what was wrong, and the flap horn was unbushed and that horn was wearing out.  I guess if I kept flying it, the pushrod probably would have gone through the horn and destroyed the plane.

Matt, to answer your question, it flew pretty good. No bad habits, or other glitches. Visually, it looked like a streak, or a sliver out there at the end of the lines. It made the turns look very flat, and accented the verticle and horizontal lines in the square manuevers.

I'm looking forward to flying it a lot more in the future.
