Clint,

What Orange Peel? If it's there, it's minimal. Man, that is just awesome. I love it. Wish I could go to VSC to see it.

Wow! Thanks for all the kind words, guys. For the most part, I'm happy with it. Those going to VSC will spot the flaws.

Randy, the photos make it looks smoother than it really is. There is a lot of orange peel in it. One flap is so bad, I'm thinking about respraying with another coat of clear. But thanks!

Jim and his wife make the best spray masks. They made this one by copying the vinyl sticker that came with the kit and then made the numbers mask in a similar font. He doesn't charge much for his services either. A great guy to do business with!

My Lord, that is gorgeous!

Makes me wish I had designed the laser cut kit. (...oh yeh, I did! ;-> ))
Technically, it's a box beamer, and the Windancer kit provides
individual laser cut interlocking ribs, which SHOULD have fit
perfectly.. (Did they?) It should be very faithful to the published plan
outlines.

It's wonderful to see one in the flesh, and such a gorgeous paint scheme.
Lovely work, Clint.

Thank you, Larry. It was a very nice kit. I just wish I had chance to fly it before sending it out to AZ. The weather here didn't cooperate to allow me a test flight, so first flights will be at the VSC. I think it will be just fine.

Oh, the ribs fit perfectly!

Very nice rendition of the Playboy.  My Playboy was green also but yours is a nicer shade of green.  When I told Jim Mayfield what colors I painted mine - his encouraging words where “I'm going to through –up”.  Well I guess Light green, Maroon, Metallic Green, Gold and Yellow doesn't sound too nice.  The NATS judge liked it gave me 36 appearance points I’m sure you would have gotten more.  Very nice!

So, maybe you can build another one, too. I'm sure Clint wouldn't mind if you borrowed his paint scheme.   ;D

Norm...Don't sell yourself short and that beautiful coooool minty green one of yours. Setting there on those hot summer tarmacs in the sun...often reach temps. that could virtually boil n' egg, when you see that COOL SHADE OF GREEN...I swear it makes even the judges eyeballs n' brains...feel cooler and makes um wanna say:----AHHHHHHHH!!!!

The Playboy made it through VSC just fine. It's a pretty good flier right off the board. I never did figure out the fuel useage and over ran my time limit all three days and only by 5 seconds on Sat. It shows a lot of promise!
Norm, I kept a picture of your Playboy up on the wall while I did my paint scheme. I wanted it to have the same "flavor" of your plane without duplicating it exactly. I got 19 appearance pts and got had the honor of being one of three models in the front row at the VSC.
I was truly honored.

Great Job Clint
Front row can't get any better than that.  Maybe I need to reconsider what color to paint my new Eagle TS.
Do you have one to one control ratios on flap to elevator?  The original weight 48-49oz. would not fly at one to one about 8 deg faster on the elevator fixed it.

Norm, the controls are set at 1 to 1 and would require major surgery to change it. I believe that 1 to 1 ratio is shown on the kit plans. The model weighs 50 oz (I hate saying that) but the FP 40 seemed to have plenty of pull even at high altitude of Tucsan. Prop is a Rev-up 11-5W.

I'd like to meet you someday and get you to sign the wing of my Playboy. It would be a real honor.

Keep the extra elevator in mind when you fly at sea level.  It maybe that the couple of extra onces of weight could require extra flap.
