Hi, TY
A bit of advice from The Man. Do not bother with an Ares over 40oz. This by private phone conversation. I totally agree, they just do not fly the same regardless of the power. Aaron's new, RTF was 34oz. Strange but true. He picked through my contest stacks and weighted them and did not use a piece over 5lbs., almost ALL were 4lb. to 4.5lb. Of course, it cost me $$$$ to replace all the wood he "stole" but, heck, I'm the "Old Man" so it didn't matter!! First engine was a Randy Smith OS .32F (run as Billy said to run it!) and after a refinish he used a Magnum .36 XLS and with that he won his class at Brodak in Classic. The ClC kit is the '58 Ares, better to stick with the '59.
We have cut out a pair of '62 Ares, and will use AT.36s in them. Love all of Billy's planes! Especially the I-beams, never flew a better plane than the USA-1 I had. Ask Derek about that one.....
