Title: Another Icon gone....
Post by: NED-088 on November 10, 2009, 04:44:19 AM
It is with a heavy heart that I must bring the message that Peter van Doesburg called me last night on the phone telling me, that Paul Tupker had passed away....

We've lost our inspirator, mentor and teambuddy at the 1978 WCh.

He helped many newcomers and left a legacy of Classic plans an designs.

Here we are, with his Orange Grondal Nobler, at the site where the WCh 1976 took place.

And, many years later, the very last time we flew together:

I remember Paul well from some of the various Championships I attended.
A more fun loving and happy man could not be found since he always seemed to be enjoying whatever was going on at the moment.
I also remember him as not being very "advanced in age" which would make his passing an even greater loss.
I offer my respect and condolences to his friends, family and memory.

Thank you Les,

I will pass your words to our circle of friends.

It must have been the joy of aeromodelling that kept Paul young at heart, when he left us he was 75.

I am sad to hear this news, even though I am getting here late.  I had the pleasure of talking with Mr. Grondal several times before his untimely passing, and I have Mr. Tupker's plans for the Grondal *AMA Special* as Louis called it.  I have a few other sets of his plans, also.  He gave us some plans which were not available elsewhere.  I never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Tupker, but I had a great desire to.

Please pass on the modeling world's condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Paul Tupker.
