Goldberg Shoestring
« on: November 29, 2009, 01:19:06 AM »
Can somebody tell me when the Goldberg Shoestring was first released?

Is it Classic legal?

Thanks in advance, Geoff

Am unsure of the actual release date, but I flew one in late 1961 (including a stop at Rich's Hobbytowne), so yes, it is definitely Classic legal.

Thanks Mike. I had no idea of the date but I was confident that the model was pre New Year's Eve 1969.  H^^

Thanks again, Geoff

Well,

To me it's not that competitive of a model, but, it's a quick Classic to go fly at VSC if you need one!
I bet that Bart could come close to winning Classic at VSC with one though!

I flew one at VSC I. It didn't have a big enough tank to complete the pattern and ran out of gas during the overhead 8. That was all part of the plan as at the time I couldn't do a cloverleaf maneuver anyway.  8)

In 1976, crossing over after 20 years in Free Flight, I used one to win Beginner Stunt at Gardena, CA.  (The judges were Klapinski & Whitely.)

Having said that, I should add that there were only two of us entered in Beginner.

Mike,

That's enough entered to have a First and a Last and you weren't LAST!
