I am recreating a version of my Dad's A7A Corsair II that he built for the 68 flying season. I originally built it about 10 years ago when I didn't have a clue what I was doing. So, I decided that this would be my project this winter. I redid the tips to better match the original, as well as added a lead-out slider, redid the control system and just generally brought it up to todays standards. It will be powered by a Randy Smith Aero 36.
Attached are 2 pictures of the original, followed by pics of mine ready for primer. Hope it turns out to be a good flyer!

Mike,
I like it. I'm a sucker for cool Navy planes.
Did your dad (and you) build from plans or scratch?

Ron, my dad did create a set of plans to build from. They are not super detailed, just kind of what you would need when building for yourself. But, they are enough to get the job done. Fortunately I still have the original to use as a guide.

Hey Mike,
I love the way that rascal sits on the main gear! I think you're going to have real winner there, "Champ".

OK,
Here is the finished product.
All Sig dope was used for the finish. Ready to fly weight is right at 44oz. After messing with my Zeros the last couple of seasons, this plane feel like it weighs nothing. Looking forward to the test flights.
