Hi Ty,
What is the size of the 62 Ares?
Area, WS, Wt?
Is an Aero Tiger .36 big enough for this plane?
Where can we get plans/instructions for it?
Like most retreads, I have a soft spot for the beautiful Ares
TIA for your help. :-)
Hi Rudy,
The plans are available from Warren Tiahrt. Maybe Randy Smith (Aero Products), also now that I think about it!
I have never measured my plans, but I have had them out a thousand times!
Both my son, and I, have wanted to build one since we first saw Billy's new one. Billy uses an Aero Tiger 36 in his, and cleaned up a few times at VSC with it. That's THE engine he told me to use in mine.
There is one critical aspects of MOST of Billy's designs that you must adhere to. They have to be light to really fly their best. Billy liked a thinner airfoil back inthe dayand they just don't create the lift that the more modern "fatter" ones do. Of course, Billy is also known as one of, if not THE, lightest builders on the planet. It's really not that hard to build real light if you are just critical of every piece that goes into the plane.
I'll try to find my picture of Billy's '62 and post it.
