What's happening with the NCS
« on: February 06, 2017, 07:48:44 PM »
Many of you know that I resigned from the Navy Carrier Society.  That isn't the subject matter. Two separate Carrier fans have asked me in the last week what has happened to the NCS and I could not offer any kind of an accurate answer.  One wanted to know why there no longer is a bulletin. the other gentleman wants to question why there has not been any voting for officers since whenever. They both noted that maybe my being the moderator here I could ask for them
All I can no is to pass one their requests, and they are aware I will do so.

I now step aside and see if you guys/gals know what is happening. Please  use this forum and not PM's to me.
Joe
I only enter contests so somebody else is not always in last place

I was just on the NCS site and all I found was rules for the various events.  I still think there are too many duplicate events.   I do good to keep up with one just for fun flying.

John, You missed quite a lot. There are nine (9) Radio Buttons that will take you to various tidbits of information including the current Top Twenty listing and photos from the 2017 Southwest Regionals. Perhaps you might want to look again: http://www.navycarriersociety.org/MainMenu.aspx

The Navy Carrier Society is a going concern. We have recently finished work necessary to get the 2017 NATS up and running. AMA will be sending out entry forms in the not too distant future.

While it's true there hasn't been a newsletter for some time there has been communication with the membership. Several bulletins covering 2016 NATS information were emailed as well as all the 2016 Top Twenty updates. Local contest bulletins were also emailed.

The NCS web site was overhauled last year. It has some nice features, including the current Top Twenty standings. In order to encourage use of the web site the Top Twenty will no longer be sent by email. There is also the Ready Room feature. As I suggested to John, give it a look.

Don't forget, we also have a presence on facebook. I suggest taking a look: https://www.facebook.com/groups/840127569386742/

Some may not know that Ted Kraver suffered a serious stroke awhile back. In order to focus on recovery he has retired from all of his Society duties.

The Society is in need of a newsletter editor. Perhaps the gent who expressed concern would like to volunteer. Please let me know if anyone might have an interest.

There have been some issues transferring the member database from Ted so that we can contact the membership. Please be patient.

As for elections, we are a couple of months behind schedule. This too is being sorted out. Unfortunately, sometimes life gets in the way.

We'll get there.

The website has been modified heavily since this summer. If you think it looks the same, hit F5 to refresh everything.
