Things ae slow, here's somehing to laugh about
« on: May 11, 2018, 05:37:16 PM »
Many of you know that I have been fighting some Cancer since December.  That is still in  force, but on top of that I have some projects that are a work in progress.  Here are three pictures of my DH-4, a model of the plane that my father was shot down in nearly 100 years ago this coming late Summer.  I have been thinking of setting it up for NW Sport .40 just for the heck of it.  This has been a hard go, what with a set of plans from 1948 when building techniques were much different  from today.
My second novel this year is almost in he printing stage. It is the story of my father's reason for coming to America and includes the story of his younger brother that was killed on June 6, 1918 at Belleau Wood in France. If interested in this book PM me for more information.
Once again, Ginny and I will NOT be attending he Brodak contest next month*&^$@#$^!!!
Take a look at he pictures, laugh a bit and let us know what your doing this Summer.

PS The black looking sticks are built up struts for the wing attachments.

Joe,

I wish you well.

The DH 4 or any of those great aircraft are great for modeling.

Why would anyone find humor with that build?

Any ideas on the colors you're going to finish the model in?

Charles, here is some confusion as to what squadron Dad was flying from when he was shot down.  I have hours of tapes he made of his life, but there is no note as to squadron colors.  Right now a simple Khaki might just do the trick.  I only plan on flying it one time, and then it will go on the wall.

Joe,

I see.

These 'tapes.'

Are there aircraft pictured in them?

Has to be numbers on the aircraft?

The tapes are oral cassettes my dad made just before he died in 1977. No pictures as he had his personal items stolen on his way back to the US from France.  I never intend to compete with this plane, I is just something to get done and has been an idea of mine for he past 30 years.  It is coming together, but as usual, all my planes have that "Pre-Crashed" look that I have made famous since 1949.
I will add more laughing pictures as I wend my way along with this project.

I know from personal experience that cancer is no joke, but you do need to keep your sense of humor. Hope everything turns out OK for you. Love the DH-4. Looks like it will do well on that one flight.
Oh, and wish Jenny happy Mother's Day for me

Get ready to laugh your buns off!  Here are two pictures that I just made of the DH-4 I've been working on for some time. I still haven't decided to put a hook and throttle on it. I only wan to fly it one and then hang it up in my father's memory. The plane is powered by an OS .35 FP The new book about his adventures in WW-1 are nearly ready for release.

What is there to laugh at.  It looks great and comparable to the two SIG kits.    H^^

Doc, I'm not sure that you meant it as a positive or a negative comparison. But either way I got a laugh from your note.

Joe, the gentleman that you are should realize I would try my best not to insult you.   I'm having a blast flying SIG Fokker and it gets the spectators attention.   Have I ever said I like bi-planes and twin engines. D>K
