Feedback wanted

I was private messaging with another member and the subject of prop hanging came up.
Here's an idea I came up with:

Here's my idea for a great .15 event:

Remove the 70mph speed limit but limit engines to anything that originally sold for $80 or less when new. Limit props to $5 or less and you can modify it however you want as long as it passes safety inspection. That way you can try and go as fast as you want without it becoming a spending contest.

Glow or diesel only.

Limit SLOW speed to 15 or 20 mph and penalize or DQ for going slower. Landing attempts start on your first pass after slow speed laps, 10 point per lap penalty for not landing.

100 point scale bonus, 3 views required.  Also a multi engine and biplane bonus would encourage a little creativity.

I'm curious what people think about this.

Jim

I don't fly carrier so take this as you will -- if you want it to be a fun event, set your lower limit on speed but don't penalize for it -- just score any slower lap as the minimum speed.  That'll keep it from turning into an event where people obsess with putting in one lap at 10.000001 MPH

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

I like 15 the way it is. There is no penalty for exceeding 70, just 70 points max. Makes any motor competition and emphasizes flying in my view.

I agree With John on his one. Leave .15 the way it was intended by Gerry Deneau (sp?)

Like John and my buddy Joe said, leave .15 as is.  If locally you are concerned with "hanging", just say now hanging allowed.  Some have a problem with hanging on the prop, I don't, but I'm also not good enough at it to make a difference.  Just ask Joe.

Joe-Hope to see you and Ginny and the Portland contest.

Good point Duke. The big problem seems to be landing anyway. That deck gets small at 52 or 60 feet. If I have a bad flight 95% of the time it is the landing.
