Gettin tired of same heading. Anybody got any info on SNIPER?? I have one framed up from an old plan. It is for a Fox .15.BB Schneurle, Foam wings, I cut. Still need finish and carrier controls. Curious how critical the design paramenters are on this as far as the rules go??

If it has a .15 engine, if it uses no moveable controls except elevator and throttle, if you can fly it on .52 foot lines, it's legal anywhere. Rules for .15 Carrier are local rules, although NCS keeps a copy of the original Denver rules, there are no "official" rules. But most everyone follows the Denver rules which are:
Rules are AMA Profile Carrier rules, except:
1. .15 max displacement
2. Elevator, throttle and deployable tail hook are the only
allowed moveable controls
3. No scale points awarded. No minimum wing area.
4. Lines are 52' - 52'6", .012 braided or .010 solid
5. Timing is for 8 laps (equal 1/2 mile)
6. High speed over 70 mph will be credited as 70 mph
(ie: there is a 70 mph speed limit for scoring purposes.
No penalty for exceeding 70, but no credit either)
That's pretty much it.

My recommendations are to make the fuselage very sturdy, they tend to break right behind the wing. Make sure the tail feathers are really solid, they break off when it flips over on landing in grass. I made mine out laminated with 1/32 ply on one side. I added about 1/2" to the elevator for better control in low speed.

BOB, YES, Thank you so much. I could see some things on yours that helped. Landing gear was pretty much straight down and I did have wings in right spot on top. BC on bottom outboard wing is best??
I allready have fuselage and horiz stab with elevator made. Too late to make the changes you mentioned, unless of course I break it and have to fix it later. In which case I will then make those changes. LOL. Will the Fox .15 do 70 mph okay. 8 X 4 prop for my sport one (Tutor Jr).

See how it flies and then if you need to you can make adjustments. I added the extra elevator by just adding a 1/2 or 5/8 tab on the back of the existing control surface. You'll find that to get it to hang you need to use a lot of up elevator, a little extra seemed to be good for me.
Don't know about the Fox performance. On my glow 15 I use a Cox Conquest and a 7X4 prop. It doesn't always get me to 70 mph. I'm not a very good engine guy so I could probably improve it some. The three line system does add a lot of drag.
I put the BC on the inboard wing mounted on a plywood piece that goes through the fuse and is large on the outboard side, just for security (pull test on 15 carrier is only 25 pounds).

Bellcrank on the outboard will save you from having to use a "through the fuse"
pushrod to the carb -- My design is pretty similar to the Sniper, and I have the
bellcrank on the inboard wing - I use a "turnaround" bellcrank mounted under
the fuse to get the pushrod on the same side as the engine. It works just
fine, but requires some initial fidgeting.
The Fox probably won't do 70 mph - I run 35% Sig Racing, I've changed to a
larger carb, using a 7x5 APC, it does mid-60's. Idles and flies slow very well
though.
