For those that have considered buying a "Wildcat" ARF/C from me be aware that I can no longer ship these kits via Priority mail.
To insure safer delivery I bought a bunch of new boxes 24 x 9 x 9", replacing the old boxes that were 24 x 8 x8". The additional size allows for more packing material like 'peanuts etc. Guess what? The price for shipping the same kit has jumped from apx $15 to over $34!!!
I will have to ship via Parcel Post now, or try to work a deal with a local UPS shipper. The nearest UPS shipping point I could drive to is over 20 miles from my home.
The kits will STILL BE SHIPPED for the basic shipping costs ($15) but for now they will be shipped Parcel Post.
Boy, am I PEEEd OFF!! Just for the heck of it I took one of the original "Ukey" boxes in and checked prices. I put in about the weight of the old Ukey that we shipped all over the Nation for about $14....New Cost.....$47!

I hear you Joe. I just purchased a set of wing cores and the box was too big to ship via Parcel Post. USPS wanted $45.00 postage for priority shipping, which is rediculous. They will no longer will get my business. I had it shipped by Fedex for approximately $15.00. So what if it takes a couple of days longer to be delivered.

Might want to check out FedEx Ground not sure if they will pick up without an account but almost everything I ship now is via FedEx Ground, better and safer than the post office with actual tracking and the prices are at least as good and in most cases better than the PO. Can't comment on UPS, some time ago I got frustrated with them and closed our account.

I just sold a few little kits and the price for shipping (via Canada Post) was just plane nuts! After I have sent the last kit, I will not bother selling anything anymore. The cost of shipping is almost the samee as the product your selling. Just not worth it. HB~> H^^

I ship airplanes to Arizona contests all the time via Greyhound. You may find Greyhound Package express is more cost effective. I used to check the airplanes on United Airlines and almost every time the crate had to be repaired after the trip. That's never happened with Greyhound, so they seem to be more careful, and they have fewer different people handling the boxes.

Pete, a good idea, but not practical for me. Nearest Greyhound ternminal is 60 miles fom here, and then once shipped they do not deliver. Buyer must pick item up. As an interesting note, my Postmaster tells me that most priority Mail is handled by Fedex fort cross country delivery points. For years the Priority mail was a God send for me. Not now.BTW is there a Greyhound office near Carmichael PA?

Unfortunately, the dearth of Greyhound offices is a real problem for many people. It just depends on where you live, I guess. I checked the Greyhound web site at http://www.shipgreyhound.com/locations/locations.asp and looked for Carmichaels, PA. I didn't find any nearby locations. However, if someone is flying in to Carmichaels, they might be landing in Pittsburgh, so it wouldn't be too far out of his way to pick up the packages in Pittsburgh, then drive them to Carmichaels.

Well Joe, now you know why I ship kits and big packages via UPS. USPS is pricing them selves out of business. H^^

I have had excellent results using FedEx Ground for shipping my airplanes to contests. Large boxes but not real heavy. I have used them for the past 8 years or so getting my stuff from California to Muncie, North Dakota and Phoenix. Usually takes about 4 to 5 days to get there but you have good tracking capabilities and they don't seem to abuse the boxes too much. Cost for a 12X12X36 inch box weighing about 15 pounds is around $20 to $25 dollars.
I would recommend them as a reasonable alternative.

Joe if you are paid with pay pal you should get a discount for UPS shipping. When the UPS guy came out one day I asked him for his PH# to get him to stop on days when I have something to ship. The lable is printed on pay pal and I call my UPS guy and he stops that day or the next. Prices have gone up for me to but not like you are seeing. I ship a box that is 39x15x4 and 6 lb. for 20.00 or less depending on where it is going.
Good luck
