Title: Ryan SOR-1
Post by: Wayne J. Buran on January 13, 2012, 05:52:48 PM
Anybody seen three views of a Ryan SOR-1. Was supposed to replace the Seagul. Cancelled by Navy, VJ 1945.

Wayne,
I believe the Ryan SOR-1 was just the designation of the Ryan built SO3C-1.
The Curtiss SO3C-3 had an arrester hook and wheels. I have never seen a 3 view, but I don't think it was physically different from the wheeled version SO3C-1

Probably the best source of info information is the Naval Fighter series; Naval Fighters No. 47

Referance page 144 ending paragraph U S Naval Aircraft since 1911. Sounded to me like a a Ryan project.
Thanks

I agree with John, a Seamew with landing gear and an arrestor hook. There are plans for a 15 size one that could be enlarged to profile size. Tom Wilks CD has it.

Also check out the Curtis XSB3C-1 Three view drawings attached. It has that same Curtis tapered wing and in fact used a SBC Helldiver wing. Tricycle landing gear too!
