Is there a program out there somewhere I can download that will calculate record ratio data to simplify contest administration? I'm a newbie CD and would appreciate any relevant info.

Simply dividing the score by the record in the event is easy enough.
The only work is looking up the current record in each event.

Thanks for the reply...

Finding national records is a bit of a pain, so when I run Carrier, I use all N.W. Records. Also this should have been on the contest flyer: "Carrier, all events AMA and N.W. flown Record Ratio, using current N.W. records.

Finding national records really shouldn't be a pain: http://www.modelaircraft.org/events/nationalrecords.aspx

As many know, I am against "RR" contests. With that said, what are the National or NW records for Nostalgia? In any case I did enter the Portland contest last year and plan on being there again this year. Personally I don't care for what my scores are anymore, preferring to just have fun. Those that know my personal situation know why I feel as I do. Any NW or West coast lurkers out there reading this? Come to the Portland contest and join us for fun and competition, or to just watch and see what a really neat Carrier event like the NW Sport .40 Profile is and can be.

Be careful if you come to wacth the Portland contest. Thanks how I got hooked. ;D

Joe,
If you come to Portland, I will give you your fuel bulb and chicken stick back. They are in the trunk of my car, and have been since last April. #^

Thanks Mark, I wondered where they went. I had left my house at 3:30 AM drove to Portland, had a Ball and drove back the same day. It then took me three days to recover. By that time I was able to empty the van and didn't notice the missing items for some time.

If you can't come, which I pray you can. I can snag them and bring them to you, when we can come fly with you. Or fish. I guess I'm not in the know, Why don't you like RR carrier events? I don't know enough about RR to know why.

Thanks Duke! Right now Ginny and I are talking seriously about going to Portland, we will see.
Now to RR. I have to admit that RR makes it a bit easier for a club considering the cost of prizes through 3rd place etc. However here's what i dont like and this is my opinion only and as such isn't worth much on the open market.
For example let's say that you and your boys ALL break the NW .40 Profile record. One of you gets an award, the opther two nothing.
Let's say you break the NW Record for a higher percentage, say by a 120%. Another person breaks the NW Profile record by 110%. You in effect get more points or prizes than the other person who flew a much tougher record to set.
Let's say that NW .40 has 15 entries and AMA Profile has only 7 but those 7 score higher than any score in Sport .40 . Who had the more impressive win?
All this simply my very humble opinion, and it in no way reflects anone else who may differ. I only enter contests so somebody else does not to always be in last place. I will continue trying to compete in Carrier as often as I can, and to heck with my scores.
By the way, I really don't like dog or poultry shows that award the best of show. Who can claim that your Beagle is a better dog than my winning Collie. Or who could claim that my Fantail was a better bird than your top winning Tumbler?

I see. I know the Portland contest shows it as Record Ratio, but I don't see that the Regionals are going to be RR. Do you know about the Regionals?
-
I'm sure that the Regionals will NOT be a RR contest for Carrier. Speed perhaps, but I'm guessing. Check a flyer @ flying lines to be sure.
The regionals usually has Class 1 and Class 2, AMA Profile, NW .15 and of course the ever increasing turnout for NWE Sport .40. A great contest throughout the years. I miss not going there.

We plan on make this our first Regionals! I'm working on my NW .15 tonight and I don't know if I'll get the AMA profile do in time. And I'll need to figure out which Sport .40 to bring.

I agree with Joe. If it were up to me, I would run carrier with prizes in all the categories. Myself, Jim Drury, Ted Gritzmacher, were the ones that really pushed to get Carrier held at the Portland Contest, and if it came to having 21 prizes it would never have been run. So it got made into a RR const just to sell it to the majority of flyers in the N.W.F.B.s. In the long run I had hoped that there could be one day Carrier only contest at some summer date, and that contest would be full prizes. It looks very unlikely that the N.W.F.B.s will hold such an event. I am thinking of trying one with the Aeroliners, but we don't have a deck, so we may need to improvise. I am thinking of an arrester array, painted deck outlines and creep paper for the bow. I am also interested in the smaller English deck.
