Thining the herd
« on: March 19, 2011, 11:00:45 AM »
Seems these two engines might be very suitable(and competitive) for carrier. I have a nib Rossi R40 FI RC ABC -11.40- , Cyl head is black anodized and comes with rather large bore throttle carb and very light tuned muffler.  Also have nib Webra Speed 61 rear int. side exh. says made in Austria . Would like to sell them for resonable amount to a carrier flyer instead of RC guy. Could any of you flyers give me a clue as to what I should expect to get for them. I would rather list them here on stunthanger classifieds  than ebay. I already have ST61 rear int. and a KB 40 rear int. for nostalgia carrier and would like to sell the more modern eng. for operating capitol.

I don't know what they go for but I would like to have that Webra Speed for my next Classic Pattern ship. I think it'd look and feel great on a Bolly pipe in a Bridi UFO.

I have used Webra Speed .61 RR engines for Class 2 since 1975 with considerable success. There is one on eBay now from the UK with bids at $125 and two days to go. This is higher than usually seen, but the engine is new with excellent storage. So a price in that range might be right. Let's see what it goes for.

The new Webra Speed .61 RR on eBay was bid up to $141.60. This strike me as the high end price for that engine, but maybe its good condition took the price that high. However, the bid did not reach the reserve set by the seller.

Webra went out of business last month - that may be affecting the prices of the existing engines.

I bought three Webra .61 at an estate sale a while back . The box says they are 61 Speed Long Stroke F-LS engines. I am using one of them and the other two are still NIB. They come with an carb. They have no muffler or any provisions for one. I can't see where they would have any application except carrier use.  I don't think I will be building three class II planes anywhere in the near future. If any one is interested in one of them drop me a note.

The one I have is not a long-stroke, but is a rear intake side exhaust, similar to my ST61 rear int which I got from a retired carrier competitor. I am saving this one for a nostalgia carrier effort. Seems these Webras were aimed at the R/C pattern wars, especially the later longstroke versions. I am learning more as I talk to a couple of old pattern fliers in my area. Really well built units. I will save the ST61 but would like to sell the Webra to get funds for a pipe and header from Randy Smith for my next stunt plane.
