North American FJ4 for AMA profile carrier
« on: April 01, 2016, 08:56:52 AM »
Here is the latest from Das Snow FlugezugeWerke:: the North American FJ4 Fury. Wingspan: 35" Power: Fox Mk.IV Combat Special.
Have looked through photos of launching and landing as well as pilot notations, and found that the incidence of the stab& elevator was used when the aircraft was launched and during landing. The next generation of fighters began the use of a full flying stabulator((lol- spelling? what ever ya want to call it-lol)).
Next in this series from Das Snow FlugezugeWerke will be the McDonnell F3H Demon.

Nice looking plane.

The stabilator was used to prevent death caused by supersonic shock waves over the hinged elevator.  Good for fast planes.  Kind of a pain for modelers.

a flying tail plane isn't to difficult -- I got advice from Keith as to how to go about doing it.

I would be interested to see how it's done on a profile.  It seems like a lot of load on a small hinge area.

The Dumas F-8 and A-7 kit had a stabalator. It worked fine.
