Title: New Engines
Post by: john vlna on May 31, 2017, 06:38:13 PM
Engines

In a number of recent threads various profile events have been discussed. One common point was an event with s specific engine limitation. i.e. FP 40, .25 etc. so I thought it would be interesting to see what was available. If you know of something not mentioned please post the info.
My methodology is simple, Google search for  .25-.40 glow motors. Obviously there is all kinds of used stuff out there, but that is not what I am trying to identify. I am looking for what is made today.

HobbyKing; ASP .25 and a ASP .32
Novel; six different .40 and one .25
Horizon Hobby; Evolution one .36 and.40, the .36 is listed as CL only, without a carburetor.
Brodak; One .25 and .40 currently out of stock
Ro-Jett; one .40, listed as a stunt engine.
Mecoa; .32,  Hp .40, K&B .28 & .40, not all currently available

A bit pricey, and not a good fit for NW .40 Which was intended to be less than Full born hot zoot engine wise.

You are so right Joe. If you want zoot, fly AMA carrier events, room for lots of zoot there. I think John was trying to find out just how many engines were available in the markets these days that could be used in the carrier events. I like the FP40 in the NWS40 and think that there is probably more FP40s out there than all of the other engines put together, you just cant get them anymore from you local model shop.

Every time I check on Ebey there are FP .40's offered. Some NIB.  I have 5 of them that I bought there and hey are very good runners.  Oddly, 2 of them were offered by guys drifting away from IC to E-power.

Nothing odd about it. E power is very nice once you get into it.  E power is Excellent for those with shaky hands around needle valves.  Anyway my quest was about new engines being offered to day I admit there is a lot of used and new old stock.
