Nice job on the field. I competed there, out of Wichita, most years between 1973 & 1977, including the first F2D TT.

Looks like I had better get stuff dusted off and flying. Last time I flew carrier there was the year Terry Herron's plane went free flight. My son JJ( John Jared) lew his first contest there. I competed in team trials there trying to pit F2C plane. So many memories from that field it would take all day to recount them. I have the contest flyer printed off, so no promises. H^^

Midwest Navy Carrier Contest - June 24 at Buder Park
the carrier bags are ready and we plan on doing some flying site improvements. I was out there at Buder today measuring so we can put down a new center pad for the pilot to stand on instead of the Grass.

we put a new center pad at the 60' center for the carrier Deck. I will be mowing the grass low the day before the contest. I have the carrier bags, flags to keep people out of the pit area so we are in good shape.
Look forward to everyone showing up … Bill Heywood and Bill Calkins will run the event. There hasn't been carrier in Buder Park for awhile
Bill bring your center pad plywood board for the 52' 6" radius location for 15 carrier

we measured out the flying site, we have a pit area in mind. We have flags to keep the flying circle safe and mark off the pit area. And we have shade when you want to get out of the sun

We have finished all of the site updates to improve the center pilot pads for Buder Park. After 52 bags of concrete we have two pilot center pads. Before we started this the 60 foot pilot center was a 2' x 2' paver in the grass. Dan got a stunt flight in off of the carrier deck this past Sunday

The site prep was excellent, the weather was excellent and I personally had a great time. If we had had a couple more flyers, it would have been perfect.
My thanks to Bill Calkins, Bob Heywood, Fred and the St. Louis club. I will go back to St. Louis anytime.
