Gluedobbers Carrier Contest
« on: July 03, 2011, 05:24:46 PM »
We had a little carrier contest today. Most of the entrants were new to the event. Lots of fun, but too hot!!  Photos 1 and 2- Bob Reeves'.36 Fury. Photos 3 and 4- Jerry Neafus' Skyraider. Photos 5,6,and 7- Doug Ames' Corsair. Photos 8 and 9-Joe Gilbert flying a Wildcat(or Hellcat?) and a 15 size Fury. Photos 10-12, a plane donated by Joe Just that was flown by 4 different entrants. Lee Thiel is flying in photo 10.   (Edited to add names)

(names are in the orig. post text...??)

Had a good time with the Club and my Corsair. It was a relief to finally get it in the air. Needs some tweeking- prop., eng. break-in, W/B trim, all minor stuff. Two crashes and no broken props!! Brought the plane home in one pc.
Everyone's plane flew great, we had some issues with the loaner, it was a little flighty to say the least...

If you do a little bit every day it will get done, or you can do it tomorrow.

I sure hope everyone had half the fun I did.

Believe it or not every airplane left the field in one piece. Joe Just's airplane needs a new fuselage which one of our club members is going to take care of, with a bunch of 5 minute epoxy even it was in one piece when it left.

Doug's Corsair looked great as well as Jerry's Skyraider. The FJ's (15 & 36) did wonderfully, took a bit of punishment and kept on ticking. Can't remember the exact numbers but think we had 10 pilots with a couple putting in both 15 and 36 flights. After I recover I'll gather the score sheets and send Joe Just the results.

I had a ball and want to thank the members of the Gluedobbers for a terrific day.
