Title: Midwest Carrier Fest 2015
Post by: Mike Anderson on October 23, 2014, 09:15:00 AM
We are in the planning stages for our MICL contest schedule for 2015 - The dates for Midwest Carrier Fest are tentatively set for June 6-7, TWO weeks before Father's Day, rather than 1 week before.  Father's day isn't til the 21st this year, so it pushes the rest of the schedule later into the summer.  Also, the Spring Kickoff (Stunt plus) is moving from the 1st weekend in May to June 13-14.  Which means I can start to plan a possible trip to Huntersville next year!

EDIT (4/7/15):
Moved the flyer from new post (at bottom) to this (original) posting to keep it at the top of the list.

"Which means I can start to plan a possible trip to Huntersville next year!"

That would be great!

Also, the Spring Kickoff (Stunt plus) is moving from the 1st weekend in May to June 13-14.

Great news on the date change for the Spring Kickoff Mike, should better the chances of good weather for the event. This will also help a lot of fliers by giving them more of a chance for some early spring practice and prep before the Kickoff event. I would think it may help overall turnout for the event too, for the same reasons. Might I suggest a separate "heads-up" post in the Events section on this date change? y1

When the sanctions are back and the flyers are done - we'll post them in appropriate places.

Maybe this year Mike.  No promises as the knees are getting better and hopefully the finances.

Just to update this thread -- Still planning on the weekend of June 6-7 for CarrierFest15.  Sanction is filled out but not yet sent.  Format will be as before - 4 'classes' -- Separate Competitions for Sat. & Sun., plus an Overall award in each event.  Trophies will be cheap certificates in cheap plastic frame, entry fees will be a free-will donation.  Emphasis will be on keeping the deck busy and encouraging lots of flying.

Cl1-Cl2-Cl1e-Cl2e   (combined - % of 2014 top 20)
Profile-ProfileE                   ( " )
.15-.15E-.15Sprtsman         ( " )
NCS Sport                         ( " )
(Anything with an NCS Top20 list --
Nostalgia Classes, Skyray, Sportsman)

In ALL the events, you may enter/fly multiple models as long as they meet the definitions (ie: you can fly a Cl.1 glow, a Cl.1E, a Cl.2 glow, and a Cl.2E all in the combined event -  your official score will be your BEST %age score).  All flights, though, will be submitted to the appropriate Top 20 list.

This contradicts the post in the events section, where you say stunt is June 6-7. Which is correct?

Sorry -- I typed that early this morning -- obviously wasn't awake yet.  Carrier is June 6-7, Stunt is June 13-14.

The contest has been cancelled for this year.  I hope I have already contacted everyone who may have been planning to attend.

Is it the lack of help or too much rain?
