Post by: Bob Reeves on June 17, 2011, 11:12:57 AM
The Big FJ-4 won a first in Sportsman and the little FJ-4-15 placed 3rd in 15 carrier at Brodaks. My 3rd and 4th official flights in Carrier ever....  ~>

Congratulations, your planes are great looking on the ground and in the air and it sounds like your having a good time with them. That is what its all about.  Eric

Here is my favorite picture at the Carrier site.  The plane, one of my 30 + Wildcats I built and sold this year. With it I took 4th place in Sportsman. Last year I gave a .15 size Wildcat to the young fellow in the picture. This year, after according to him.."we flew the paint off the plane you gave us last year" he asked if I had something bigger.  He and his dad were given the plane in the picture.  Brodak's Carrier event was well run by John Vlna with over 30 some odd entries.

(I wont mention the name, but a very good friend ran over my .15 ship with his car, and dispite a lot of help getting it ready it crashed on takeoff)

Dispite some "doom-sayers" there is a growing interest in Carrier flying.  Perhaps not in "State of the Art" competition as many wish for, but in lesser competitive venues, or just plain personal flying enjoyment.  Perhaps more on this later under another thread.

Hey Joe, backing over your own plane in carrier is not stunt.   Remember we don't get backups.  Great to hear carrier is growing again.  Maybe next year.  H^^

I really can't say enough about you Joe - To know the amount of work that goes into building a plane and then to receive one for nothing is beyond generous. I'll post pictures of this plane when I get a motor on it and take it to the skies. Thanks again Joe!

What motor would be a good fit? I was thinking either an evolution 36 or an os 46 la. Any thoughts on either of these two for carrier use?

Chris, go with the Evolution. I have one and it is a very friendly engine. also, the LA .40 or .46 while a great engine is not eligible or Profile competition if that is in your future.
