Idle question about leading edge slats

Has anyone flown Carrier with leading edge slats?  Zenith Aviation sells some STOL kit planes that have fixed LE flaps that are cleverly designed to give lots of help when the flaps are down and the AoA high, but which are placed so that no air flows in the slot at the design cruise AoA, thus generating almost no drag (well, almost no claimed drag -- you need to be careful with people who have fallen in love with an invention).

I'm wondering if it'd be something one could play with on a carrier plane.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Tim all this was given up years ago.   Don't even give it another thought.  The secret to slow speed is  in getting the plane to hang by the prop at 60 degrees.  At this the engine is running near full speed to use the prop to hang at the desired angle.  You will simple slider arrangement to bring the line angle back to the trailing edge of the wing.  At that, unless you are seeking to be the best Carrier pilot in the NW (or nationally)  you wont need more in the way of "trick" wing or rudder or increased motor offset.  That pattern was given up years ago by the now National pros.

Hey Tim, I just sent you a picture relative to your question about slats. Dave Wallick profile carrier mid seventies at Cleveland Junior Air Races. Dave always was an innovator even to the point of being unliked by many carrier people. Way ahead of the curve. Let me know if you get this picture. Maybe you can post it as I had a problem.
