Seems we need to work together more doesn't it Dennis....I'll gladly share the plans, templates or
whatever you want.  Bill Sawyer is going to work up the canopy for it...we'll get several.  The kit
is very nice...light wood.  Missing horizontal and canopy...the rest is perfect.

Cool, are you gonna build it? I'd really like to see one done, I've got one that's still in the box myself. I paid a lot more than 42 bucks for it too.

A big yes to the build question...by the way...does yours have a canopy in the kit?  The guy I got this from says that they don't
come with canopies...the plans have a listing for extra parts...including the canopy...for 50 cents...those were the days.

What do you guys think...Class 1 ???  or 2.

The Avenger did come with a Canopy and Ball Turret. It had all of the framing formed into the surface.

You might want to check out Dare Engineering (?). They have a rubber power Avenger in the same scale as the Consolidated kit. Their canopy is vacuum formed smooth but is nicely done. I would assume one is available as a spare part.

Class I or Class II ?: Beware ~ The Consolidated Avenger builds up as a rather heavy model. It is all too easy to exceed the legal weight limit for competition. Yer probly gonna need all the horsepower you can find.

Have fun.

This is a collector kit and will usually go for well over $100. I have one that is built for scale and it is heavy! If you build it carve a LOT more wood out of the log fuselage to lighten it up.    Mike

Commonly referred to as another Consolidated log.It will easily build to over four pounds. I know, I built one for Class 2 carrier long ago. Silly me.

Yep, they came with canopies. And like the guys are saying, hollow the heck out of it. Even to the point of maybe wanting to add some formers.

 Keep us posted!

The only one I seen built was at my first NATS in 64 at Grand Prairie NAS.  The lady flying it, or trying to fly it never got airborne.  Her helper would release the plane and watch it roll off the end of the deck.  I think she also flew it in scale competition that year.  Was one beautiful airplane.

Are you going to do a kit on the plane?  I think you were going to do the Gaurdian years ago and not heard anything lately.   S?P

I did cut two more guardians doc....the offer is still open if you want one seeing as how you provided the original...if there
was some interest I would be willing to do a few of these Avengers...Bill Sawyer says he can do the canopies which would
be the only thing I really wouldn't be able to do on a kit repro....let me know if you guys might be interested in one.

Doc had sent me a Sterling Guardian and I cut a couple of more or less short kits from that.    I would
add too...Mike (Custom Cut Kits) and I can cut almost anything from plans...We have always wanted
to do some carrier planes anyway...Joe Just is the only brave soul who has done this so far for us.

Not sure "Bravery"  is the proper description. Nice thought though.  How do I get a short kit of the Gaurdian? Might like to have one to challange Paul Smith next June in Carmichael,PA.  Now that might be a brave move!

Well I surely would pony up to the bar for some nicely cut Sterling Guardian wing and fuse former parts.  I assume laser cut?

Wayne...I don't have the plans done in CAD ..yet...but if I can get one of the guys to do it I would be glad to do a small run of the Sterling Guardian...been wanting to do the Sterling Corsair too...might as well anyway...it will take
probably a couple of months to pull all the pieces together but You will be first on the list for one...I'll keep you in
the loop as we go.

David,

I talked to Mike a bit about a full fuse carrier model for a .60ish engine when you guys were ever here.  Please keep me in the loop, too.  I'm in for whatever you guys decide to do..........

Will do Jim...a lot of this will just hinge on getting these plans done in CAD so we can get
the laser cutters the files to cut some parts...I am very excited about this since there are
so few of these kind of scale planes available anywhere.  Sizing these plans up or down is
easy too nowadays.

Seeing this again, put the old DOC on the list.  I relocated both McCoy Redhead .60's with Bill Johnson throttle control. H^^

Keep me informed. Nicely cut wing parts and fuse formers would be great. The parts from a Sterling kit are difficult to reproduce since they were die crunched and the wood was the pits.
