Please see the listing in the EVENTS section. We will be having a raffle, too. You could win a radio, engine, kit or other valuable prizes!
-
OK, here's the list of raffle prizes: Spektrum DX2E radio; Thunder Tiger 36 engine; Brodak Guardian kit; Powermaster GMA 10/22 fuel (6); CoreHouse wing cores and Bischoff profile Hellcat plans (4); MBS Model Supply gift certificates (2);
Mike's Hobby Shop gift certificate (1); Bob Smith CA glue and other goodies for all contestants.
All you've got to do to get a shot at the goodies is show up and fly. Every official carrier flight gets a raffle ticket. You can fly in any NCS recognized class for a score, and there will be awards for Sportsman Profile, Expert Profile, Class I, Class II, and 15. You don't even need to bring a plane if you don't have one! 2 loaners will be available. C'mon, it's not that far. Bring somebody with you! I'd almost feel guilty if I had to win all the prizes myself!

CARRIER CONTEST REPORT OCTOBER 14 DALLAS TX Bill Bischoff
Six contestants, including first-timer Steve Moon, enjoyed a breezy but otherwise nice day, and made a total of 26 flights. Since every official flight earned a raffle ticket, most contestants took all their flights, and Class I became the "earn more tickets" class. David Russum also flew in Nostalgia Profile for more raffle tickets, a strategy that seems to have paid off. I flew JP Hanway's beautiful Sterling Guardian in Nostalgia Class II, giving JP the chance to see his creation in action, and allowing me to submit a score to the NCS top 20. (Ok, it got me another raffle ticket, too.)
We modified the rules a bit, allowing multiple contestants to fly the same airplane. My carrier trainer Hellcat, dubbed "the mule", made a total of 12 flights without so much as a broken prop, needle valve adjustment, or glitch of any kind.
Steve Moon did great in his first carrier contest, even if he did violate the spirit of the event by coming out to practice the weekend before the contest! Steve and David Russum duked it out in Sportsman Profile and Class I, with David besting Steve by about 4 points in both classes. Look closely at the scores, and notice that Steve had 95 point landings to David's 100 pointers. Now that's close! Both of them handled the wind well, and I suspect that they'll be hanging the slider equipped Hellcat in the near future.
David Russum was also the big winner in the raffle. He won the Spektrum radio, the Thunder Tiger 36 engine, a set of foam wing cores and Hellcat plans, and CA glue!
In the thank you department, I'd like to thank all the contestants for participating and helping with setup, tear down, and timing. Thanks to CD Patrick Hempel, and center judge Phil Dunlap. Also thanks to Michael and Curtis Pugh, Tom Hamblet, JP Hanway, and Wayne Cox for timing. And of course thanks to our raffle sponsors Bob Smith Industries, the CoreHouse, Great Planes Hobby Distributors, Horizon Hobby Distributors, MBS Model Supply, Mike's Hobby Shop, and VP-Powermaster Fuel.

Here are some pictures. Special thanks to Bill Bischoff for organizing the contest and the raffle!!!

The contest was a blast. Thaks to Billy Biscuit for all the effort in putting it
together and collecting all the great raffle prizes. Flying the carrier planes is a lot of
fun and the slow flight protion can be a real challenge. I was certainly happy with my
95, 85, 95 and 95 point landings for my four official flights. Next time I just gotta
remember that Carrier contests don't get rolling quite as early as the stunt
shows. I was there at 8:00 AM and the only two guys at the field were Mike
Scott and Joe Hildreth putting in some flights with their brand new RO Jett 76s.

Bill, thanks for the pictures and coverage. Love that Zero! Any word about the plans yet?
Thanks

Sorry, no progress on the Zero plans yet. In fact, the person who did the CAD work on the wing lost a lot of files in a computer crash, so we may have gone backwards. It is still on the to-do list, though. As I said before, if you're in a position to want to start building, I can give you enough info to get you going.

No rush, I have two projects on the bench, new Guardian roundtail for profile and a .15 size of the same. Gary Hull keeps talking me into new projects. On top of that I need to relook my Firefly T-2 project.
Thanks
Wayne
