Check the event menu for the 2020 AMA Nats...
« on: May 18, 2020, 02:16:04 PM »
I shot in an entry fee on the outside chance that The Nats goes on.

June 10th is AMA's Judgement Day.  Having a few entries in hand might help them to a "yes".

I noticed two things on the Carrier menu:

Event 319, Class I is missing.

There's a "new" carrier event:  Classic Nostalgia 30.  Unless this is a new event I haven't heard of, it looks like a misplaced stunt event.

I had a hard time finding where on AMA's site to enter The Nats, but I found it by typing "nats entry" in the search box.

This is not a good sign.

Like Speed & Racing, we add events and rarely drop any.

I wouldn't mind seeing Scale Carrier become ONE event with several line sizes based on weight and engine size.  The current winning setup in Class II is just a Class I model with a 46.

After 60 years of engine development, the 60 and even the 40 have become a lot more than anybody needs.   Scale Carrier would do just fine with 25's, but I know the old timers won't let it happen.

We could make this work like a local contest with as few a five good men.   Pilot, two crew men and two judges.  All hands on deck.  Like a local contest, no processing unless a record is broken.

With this Chinese Flu lockdown in many places, The Nats will be smaller if it happens at all.  But I'm willing to do my part to maintain the continuity of the tradition.  I fear that some annual events (not just in modeling) will die if they miss a year.

Event 319 Class I has finally been added to the on-line entry list.

Despite my and others best efforts the bogus Classic Nostalgia 30 unofficial event is still listed. Just ignore it.

It's like pushing a rope.

Thank you for the fix.

Now, next question:  Who, if anybody, is running carrier at The Nats?

The news that's come to me is that CL has not been cancelled, but is somebody running it?
