Great video of C130F landing and takeoff tests on the USS Forrestal. Vintage unknown but excellent video. See on Plane A Day at   http://www.planeaday.com/. Lets start building.

Yeah, I have seen videos of the C130F doing take offs and landings.   Only problem is there is no carrier hook.  Though, how can you make an arrested landing?   Maybe an option in scale competition as I have seen them do short field landings during an air show at the old Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base.

There are plenty of land-based planes that can prove a carrier landing and/or takeoff.  A single stunt doesn't really make a airplane a true carrier-based aircraft.  Virtually any light plane, Cessna 150, Piper Cub, Lysander, OV-10, etc could get on & off a carrier.  Is that what the event's about?

While the C-130 landings and take-offs are more in the category of “I can so I did’. There were some large planes tested that would be legal, namely the B-25 (naval PBJ version), and the P2V, both had hooks installed. . Back in the 70’s the AMA tech director authorized the OV-10 as a legal plane without a hook!. The OV-10 was used on carriers but never had a hook, just used brakes and reverse props to land.
