Brodak Carrier to be a "record ratio" events
« on: March 14, 2025, 06:54:45 AM »
Per the announcements, all the Rule Book events will be "record ratio".  So the event shakes out to be:

Angstrom Ebernez (S) gets 100 points is every event and Pete Mazur comes in second place with about 94 to 96 points.  Third place is up for grabs.

See?  All the Senior electric records are open **** and unclaimed.  So any score that Angstrom gets is a record and thus 100% points by the record ratio formula.

Pete holds ALL the Adult records so he could get over 100% if this is the best performance of his life.  As for the piston engine classes, all the records were set long ago by Burt Brokaw and the scores are out of reach by anybody, including Burt himself, since the records have held since 2013 and 2019.

Look at the rules on the Brodak web site. The “record ratio” is not to the AMA records but to the 2024 NCS Top 20. As a result, there are no age classifications. Perhaps they will come up with a “Best Jr/Sr” award as is often done at contests, but you are probably competing against Angstrom head-to-head.

If you are crazy enough to fly Profile or Class I/II with an engine you are competing with Burt Brokaw in absentia.
Burt did 379.1 in Profile.  Everett Shoemaker was a distant second at 82%.
Class I BB did 533.4.  Second place was 77%.
Class II BB did 491.5. Second place was 86%.

Given the choice of gas or electric, Pete Mazur's scores are much softer targets.

If nothing else, this will serve as an example of why gas & electric carrier don't mix.

Skyray & 15 Class are altogether different because of the 75 & 70 MPH speed limits.  With a lid on top end, the electrics dominate totally.
