Bill Calkins
« on: April 29, 2022, 08:17:37 PM »
I am very sad to report the passing of Bill Calkins. Bill was known in stunt circles but especially in Carrier circles. He served as event director for Carrier at the Nats many times as well as at our Midwest Regional Championships. He was an enthusiastic carrier competitor and his AF2S Guardian kit from Brodak was very popular for Profile competition. He was a member of the Navy Carrier Society since it’s beginning and served as its president for perhaps ten years. He and I were each other’s pit crew for decades. With his passing I and all of control line modeling have lost a very good friend.

Very sorry to hear that.  His Carrier designs were much appreciated.  Always enjoyed competing with him.  Ron

Just seeing this and echo the sadness of the others. What I loved about Bills models was that he usually did subjects that were not common, and they still performed well. I first met him at the first contest I ever entered here in St. Louis as a beginner and Bill helped me out with some needle valve issues . Then always saw him at the SIG contest. Great modeler and great friend Sympathies to his family and all his friends.
Gear, down, flaps down, hook down, all down , clear to land Bill!
