A Musciano design from 1949 Air Trails for Nostalgia Carrier

This is my Musciano D.H. 4 for Nostalgia Class 2. Power is the O.S. 45 AX. I know it is rather an odd model for carrier, but when I found the photo of the US Navy's D.H.-4 sn. A-5983 being used to evaluate arresting gear I thought why not.

Very nice. I have always wanted to build a DH-4. That's the plane my father flew in France during the First World War. It is also the plane he was shot done while piloting. His observer/gunner/photographer was killed. Dad was taken in by some Australian troops after the crash. I am now working on his life story for my next historic novel.

Nice work. Quite a bit of scale work for a Carrier plane.

Isn't it called "" Scale Carrier""?

I used Wylams drawings as reference to produce the DH4 in the photo

The one most important item I did was fabricate the landing gear in two pieces (( left & right)) from 60/61 aluminum with a 1/8" mw spreader bar/axle. All struts and the gear are attached with 2:56 machine screws. Interplane struts have brass attachment brackets epoxied into the ends. The cabane struts have a sheet brass bracket that is attached to the fuselage with 2:56 machine screws with the strut bottoms attached to it .

It is. But Carrier planes often have a short, hard life. This is the most detail I have ever seen on a Carrier model.

Thank you. Working on a BTD-1 for AMA class 2 and a Hellcat for AMA class 1. I honestly believe that the "" appearance points"" should be proportional to the quality of the model's ability to accurately represent the aircraft being modeled.... just my opinion.. will never happen
