Notes on a Combat zero
« on: May 25, 2014, 07:13:18 PM »
I converted one of my old planes, a 60's design called the Combat Zero to electric a while back. The design is from FM mag, designed by Nick Ziroli. This particular one was built in the early 80's . It is light and of course very maneuverable. I have been flying it with a throttle and have been impressed on how well it hangs, no slider and as the photos show the lead outs are quite forward.

I am not sure what to make of this except it seems to offer some design ideas I have overlooked.. The elevator is large, almost all flying like modern combat planes, wing area is 280sq in. Tip weight is unknown but probably about 1/2 oz or so. About 3 degrees out thrust and LH rotation. Balance is slightly tail heavy.

How about combat carrier, points for cutting the opponents streamer and landing points in addition to hi and low speed.
