Sad but true.
The current rules favor planes from the 1935-to-1945 era, with the MO-1 composing the majority of models and the VAST majority of winner and record holders. Planes like the MO-1 that were slow like turtles, fly closer to the actual speed of models and get more carrier points.
The jet age, from 1946 to present, a full 65 years is largely absent, with the expecption a few models like yours, built because you like the subject, and giving up serious hope of winning. Jet fighters that were designed to go 500+ MPH aren't all that hot for going 90 high and 10 low.
I've often thought of the idea of origianating a Jet-25 Event limited to jet fighters with one of the readliy available .25 cubic inch engines. All of these "old time", "classic" and "nostalgia" things, as you say, don't leave much for today's designer.
