Heheheh :)
Another wing ? flap question ...
I'm building Brodak's "Oriental" and have followed the plans and instructions to a "T".
I'm ready to fit the flaps , but there is a fit problem .
The trailing edge of the wings (with trailing edge sheeting) is 3/8th's of an inch , but the flap material is only 1/4 inch thick .
I'm using barrel type hinges , not the cloth supplied .
The problem is , there is a noticable "step" from the wing TE to the flap hinge .
Should I get some 3/8th balsa sheet and redo the flaps ?
the 1/4 inch flap material just doesn't look right to me :!

First of all, what do the plans show? I've done elevators smaller than the stab, but not flaps. It might work just fine. But if your in doubt,
use 3/8 stock for the flaps.

A lot of folks use 1/4" as flap material....there are thoughts that the larger wing root verses the 1/4" flap will "wash" the surface, and correct some hunting issues.

the sheet for the trailing edge is tapered the last 1/4inch to match the flap had the same on my kit

Rob: Check your plans and on the side view of the wing you will see the taper on the trailing edge sheeting.

Again , disaster narrowly averted , thanks to you all %^
