I thought there was a post about a "building bar", or somthing like that. It must have got lost in the glitch the other day. Dont matter, I have my wing jig amost done. I have to attach the blocks that hold the "wire" to the board.
I am building the Strathmoor wing. It has laser cut holes for 5/32 wire. Leester pointed this out, but I read "5/16", so I got my old aluminum arrows out, and was about to strip the feathers off, when I looked at the ribs again. Ahhhh, 5/32, thats different, I have that. So the parts are cut, holes drilled, and all I need to do is make sure the wires are straight when I attach the blocks to the board.
This is my first time using a fixture like this. I hope it goes good. %^

Greg: 5/32nd is what the Adjusto-jig uses and Eric at RSM uses these also. The kit was cut by RSM.

Well, mine aint as nice as Leesters, but I am done,(i think) with my wing jig. it took a little bit of sanding to make it all square, and make sure the rods sit straight. Like I said, this is my first time building on anything but a flat surface. I think it will work, what do you guys think?

Thanks Ty, will do. Thats the kind of stuff I would learn the hard way were it not for you guys.
At the moment I am cleaning the ribs up, and will be using the new jig shortly. I havn't had this much fun since the last time I built a plane ~>

yes, 5/32 dia. The holes in the ribs are 5/32, so.........
I also made two blocks to sit under the rods should they sag when the ribs are on. easy off and on. I can go to aluminium or carbon rods if I need to on a future project.

Greg, Thanks. Nice looking jig, may give one a try and thanks to Ty, I even will have a great modificton to incorporate.

Greg: Hey that looks great should work just fine. One thing I did was to take real fine sand paper and to the rods, that way they'd slide in and out without hanging up on the ribs. Especially the rod ends. Good luck.

This wing jig is working well. But, last night, I after I slid the ribs on the rods, I took a break, and read this thread. Thanks for the tip Leester, but I read it too late **) . I did a small bit of difficulty sliding the ribs into position, but I managed. The ribs and spars are installed. I am sheeting now. The bellcrank platform is curing, I will be installing the controls tomorrow.
I did hit one major snag. I hd the first of the spars installed, and when I flipped the wing over, to do the bottom, the spar interfered with the center rod support. SO after another break. I notched the support, and used the cut piece as a "stand off" for the clamp screw. It worked good. Had I not flown this morning, I would have the sheeting done. But, I had the need for speed. :X

I hit another snag with this jig, tho its mostly a brain fart on my part. I sheeted over the center support, with the aluminum clamp screwed down. I had to cut little holes in the sheeting to get the screws out, so I could flip the wing. DOH!!!! ;D
I hope I only do that once! This still a fun build. f~
