Can anyone tell me what size hole Brodak wing ribs use for building on a wing jig? I have a profile Oriental kit in the closet, and was wondering what size rods to get to build it.

I don't know if it is true of the Oriental kit but Brodak's wing jig uses 5/16 rods.

Mark, sorry, I've been holding off on this, but I can't wait any longer.
Is there some reason you can't just open the kit and measure the size of the holes in the ribs?

The wing in the Oriental is straight, no leading edge sweep. I'm pretty sure the Brodak kit doesn't use rods, but a leveling bar instead.

Of course there is. Two reasons in fact.
1) Dozens, if not hundreds of Brodak kits have been built by guys here, and I figured someone would know off the top of their head without me making another mess digging the kit out before I have the bench cleared and ready to go, and
2) It's fun watching people hold it in and scream at their computer screen, "WHY DON'T YOU JUST OPEN THE BOX AND LOOK!!!"

Well I was going to do that, but decided to be nice for a change and thought you might have some common sense. VD~ VD~ VD~

If it is 5/16", that's a perfect fit for 8mm carbon fiber tubes or rods from a kite shop.

Arrow shafts fit also

So, how's that working for you so far? You could have opened the kit, measured the holes, bought the CF rods, built the wing jig and had the wing finished by now. Hang in there Buddy, hope you get an answer. H^^

I ordered the engine for it last night, so it'll be a little bit before it's time to start on it. I'm just one of those guys who gets things planned in his head long before he starts cutting sticks.

Unfortunately, I've found arrowshafts of different sizes so we need a specification of diameter.
Have you opened the box yet?? n1

The holes are either 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 7/16" or 1/2". It's also possible that there aren't any. If there is anything else I can help with just let me know. D>K

Better yet, follow the instructions. I'm betting you don't need rods for that wing.

OK Mark, How long has the kit been in the closet ??? If it is a laser cut kit it will have 5/16" wing jig holes. Check the Brodak web site and find the Profile Oriental and under additional items it list's the wing jig and states the jig will only work if the holes are for 5/16" rods. So if it's Die cut NO jig holes Laser Cut YES.
