If you mold a part from FG and one from CF which one would weight more?

Thanks,

Using the same weight of fabric, the parts should weigh the same. The carbon part of the same weight will be stiffer and stronger in tension.
Because carbon is stiffer, the same parts made out of glass need more material, which takes more resin, and that makes them heavier.
But if you used a single layer of 6 oz glass or 6 oz carbon to mold a part, they should weigh the same.

I found that there was more empty space in my CF veil that in .56-oz class cloth. My FG part came out marginally lighter. This, however, was not in molds, but rather in surface lay-ups where minimum resin was left after rolling and scraping. - SK

..and if you compare the lightest (.56?) glass cloth with slightly heavier, say 1..2oz, you will notice that the heavier have much less epty holes in the weave. Again, much stiffer than the lightest with about same weight gain. And, unlike the lightest, they even allow some sanding. L
