Title: Ultra kote
Post by: John KruziK on December 15, 2009, 08:15:33 PM
Will ultra kote stick to wood filler, and or spackle? I'm using ultrakote on wings and tail ,dupli color on fuse. Should  fillets be done after covering wings? Thanks John

I usually put fillets in then cover, but don't put the covering over the fillets. I paint about a 1/4" or so onto the covering, the covering should stick to both you mentioned as long as it's a flat or outside type of curve. This is UltraKote and Krylon.

I use  mostly finishing epoxy and micro balloons as a filler for fillets and Red Devil light Spackle for finishing. It sands really nice and then cut a strip of Ultracoat wide enough to cover the fillet and slightly beyond on both sides and iron it over the fillet with a trim iron. The cover up to the fillet on both the wing and fuse.

I normally cover the wing Out of the fuse, then install, make the fillets and paint. This allows the fillets and paint to seal the inboard edge of the covering. I think it makes a more attractive and durable junction personally

Hi Mark, You put fillets on top of a wing covering?  I'm trying to figure out what folks are doing, thanks.
