This one is my first (and probably last) twin effort
i have been gifted with 2 used Enya CX 11 engines, that previously belonged to the F1 World Champion Ayrton Senna. The engines was given to Senna´s childhood friend and model builder Celso De Santi, which is one of the top R/C model builders in Brazil and a long time friend of mine, since he knew that i am a control liner, he gave me the engines. Ayrton had the engines on 2 flying wings that both crashed on guard rails at Brazilian autodrome of Interlagos, both bended crankshaft and he gave them to De Santi back then...
To honor such engines with that heritage i would need to construct a model to display it, so a twin was in order
painting will be after Ayrton´s helmet

Cool. If it were to be flyable it would need sheeting from the center section out to the nacells -- but I suspect you knew that.
-
Great to see your project here Fred, thanks! The parts appear to be laser cut, is this a PDK kit?
-
thanks a lot guys, it´s a PDK project slightly reduced indeed!
Motorman, with such a name, i am pretty sure you´re the guy for that, thanks for the kind offer
happens that a local guy made magic and restored the engines to a brand new look, i just had to buy new liner/piston for one of them. he straightened the cranks too, will post pics here.
the model is on primer now, so follow more pics
wing is polyspan and fuse/tail on sylkspan
regards and be safe

Subscribed. I love twins! The inboard engine blister is a neat treatment I may try soon.
Thanks for sharing!

They are not hard to build and they are fun to fly. This was #1 Pat has a truly staggering catalogue of great designs
-
I flew a twin Ringmaster owned by Dan Miles with two strong Fox 19's, which were a chore to start, be we finally got it going.
One great feature was that the fuselage nose was cut off at the LE, but the engine nacelles kept the true Ringmaster profile, so it looked Ringmaster in flight.
The absence of the middle fuselage made working on the inboard engine a lot easier (less hard).
-
Beautiful work!
Is that the stock stabilizer or did you enlarge it to match the increased wing area?
-
On mine that is the stock stab. It was built about 2013/14. My memory stinks anymore. The only change that we agreed to was the fuselage was too short and we slightly extended it. Made the aircraft a real pleasure to fly. The model was powered with 2 Fox 15 BB engines. Out side of the increased power I flew on 60 foot lines with it and it was fine. It had 2 engine failures but the plane handled it well. Fortunately they were both at the bottom of the maneuver. it had a nice feel at the handle and it was not an excessive pull on the lines. What I'm saying is that it will do the pattern. It is not in my stable anymore

I forgot to ask, were those hand laid out checkerboard patterns? If so AWESOME!!!! #^ y1 ;D
-
Larry, it was never built for competition but for fun. so shortcuts were taken on the finish.
The checkerboard black/white is Ultrakote and the red paint is a Rustoleum finish. I have another kit so perhaps someday another one will be built

just "found" some other pictures. have shot the second layer of primer and next is final sanding

Thanks Jim, more pics of the blister, looks better and kills vibration
had to custom made the tanks, happy for a first try

Looks great Fred, nice work! Thanks for the extra build pics, I'm really liking this model. y1

That is really a cool looking plane. Here is a picture of a twin Ringmaster I was asked to restore for this man. However right after the picture was taken he had a heart attack and passed away at the hospital. He had no wife or kids. I am waiting for his estate auction to purchase the plane and restore it to flying condition. He built it back in the 60s im told....Gene

Those are first try tanks? Wow!
I had two swings at tanks for my BHM Mosquito. Not one of my four looked anyrhing like yours! Mine looked like they were soldered with old, fireplace-heated irons...

Tanks look great. Found a picture of a few of my Ringmasters. The Twin is in the back. D>K

John,
For some odd reason none of your pictures can be enlarged on my computer. So I never get the opportunity to see everything on the model in sharp focus.
-
Dennis,
Quite a while ago I'd had the same problem with opening some photos on the forum. Someone gave me this tip back then, instead of clicking on the photo itself click on the link just below it and then "open", usually works just fine.
-
Wayne,
Thanks for the tip but I always do that when clicking on the image doesn't work. Some posts just won't enlarge and I'm not that computer Sharp to go digging to see why not

Me either but once you get the photo opened that way don't you also get some pop-up tools at the bottom of that screen to allow enlarging? Mine does, but I can't explain why or how.

I would take another picture and post it of the twin by it self. But haven't been able to down load pictures for several weeks now. I'm about ready to throw all this electronic junk out the door. >:(
