Tutor II control system
« on: February 28, 2006, 05:19:11 AM »
Got my new control system from Tom Morris yesterday.  It is the best looking system.  If you have a new Tutor II kit this is the way to go.  Tom sent the system all bloted together.  He does great neat work.  Never used this system before.  Tom also sent detailed instruction on installation.  Just have to fish new leadouts thru wing.  Hope to be able to get them thru without opening wing up.

Steve, when I repalced the leadouts in my Noblarf, I did it like this, it was easy.....

install new leadouts on the new bellcrank, (I guess this is already done?)

access the bellcrank in the airplane, and remove it a tiny bit. enough to snip the old leadout wire......

....and glue the old wire to the new leadout wire. Make sure the bellcrank is correctly orientated to the wing. (I used CA on the leadout butt-splice, I am guessing you will have to pull the wire thru leadout guide.)

Gently pull the new leadouts thru the wing.

install new crank and push rod

terminate the new leadouts

fly airplane

easy

You can always use music wire to pull wire thru also.

later man

Greg
I hope this helps

Thanks Greg
Hopefully it will work ok, just dont want to open wing up if I can help it.  The setup I got from Tom has everything already mounted.  Should slip right in. Did you get your plans yet ? Got mine yesterday.  Picked up wood today.

Steve, no plans yet, I ordered Saturday. I have all my wood ready, and most of the hardware. I have enough Carbon fiber matt to get me thru this airplane. I was going to use it on my Cardinla I am finishing, but I will save it for the Dread.

I ordered the canopt and the HD horns from Randy.

What engine are you going to use?

Oh yea, if you dont open up the wing, how will you get the new bellcrank in?

I buy a shirt over next few days.  As for motor not sure yet.  How about you ?  As for leadouts Tom Morris sent some fine copper wire that you attach to the old leadouts and then to the new ones to fish it thru.  He said he did it on his and it works good.  I hope it works for me to.

Cool on the leadout fix. Do it Toms way, I am sure he has done it waaaaaay more than me, i have done ONE.

I am going to use the Brodak 40. lighter than the FP I was gonna use.  gonna be breaking it in this weekend.

See, with the chat room, there would be no 1 day delay.

I have sanding to do, I love sanding, its so.......fun  ;D
