If you have a fully sheeted foam wing, how do you deal with the covering if you want to use open bay wing tips?

Cover the solid surfaces with graphite mat and dope, cover the tips with Polyspan.

I cover the entire wing with iron on shrink wrap...but have only done full foam and no partials. Fuselage too. Zero paint or dope except for open bay wheel wells and engine compartments.

Just out of curiosity, why the open bay tips? Why not just carve and sand block tips? Can’t put a hole in them as easily.
