Title: Thrustline alignment
Post by: Larry Renger on December 15, 2010, 01:46:23 PM
Here are a couple of photos of the setup I use to align my motor.  The model is leveled with a Robart gage, then the motor is set with the attached level.  Second photo is more detail on the opposite side of the level.

So what is your target for motor thrust line ?
Any up or down thrust ?

Larry,
Do you make any compensation for the "droop" caused by the weight of the indicator?

I go for 0-0 thrustline, and the indicator is light plastic, so there is no discernable droop to worry about.

The level is just glued to a board, and several sizes of holes are drilled to accomodate different prop shaft sizes.  There are even smaller, lighter levels available and you could probably adapt a bubble level to the job.  Get creative!
