Here is another handy widget that is easy to make.  I prefer thread hinges on small models as they are very free (in both senses of the word  LL~ ).

Here is an easily made widget to get the hole spacing perfect every time.  Soda (or beverage of your choice) can stock or thin metal is doubled over, then the sides bent back and alignment holes punched. Slip it into the hinge joint and poke away!  H^^

That makes it too easy.  I still do the measure and mark for where to drill the holes. #^
