Title: Testors Dope
Post by: Sean Elliott on October 29, 2007, 02:20:35 PM
I am getting ready to finish a new project and I really want to use an old Testor's color (metallic jade green) that I have on the shelf.  What is Testor's dope, butyrate or nitrate?  This is for a free flight project and needs no clear over the top, just silver underneath.

Anyone remember what Testors actually is?

I don't know what it is, but you might try the old test panel trick....   See what happens...   ~^

I will do a test panel for certain.  I have already experimented with a small sample from the can and found Sig thinner does the best with this old stuff.  As far as keeping it from going solid that is the work of a well sealed metal can. :)  When I first opened it the paint was liquid but goopy.  I carefully poured it all into a brand new quart can and mixed in a third more thinner. After about 45 minutes in the pro paint shaker we have at work it looks as good as new!

Ty,

It is a Steven's Aero Model kit called the Diddle Rod.  It won't be glow so fuel proofing is not an issue.  I just have to have that Jade Green color!
