Anybody got any pictures or sketches of mounting the tail skid in a 1/2 profile
I got the elevator glued on and forgot to cut out, glue, and shape the hardwood block

Fred,
Here is a simple way to add a tail wheel/skid to a 1/2" thick profile fuselage without
cutting into the side of the fuselage.
It's a little tricky to drill the hole in the fuselage, and also to drill the small hole through
the length of the dowel, however neither hole needs to be too precise.
Bend the wheel mount and the stooge loop first, push the wire through the 1/4" dowel,
then make a 90 degree bend in the wire and epoxy it into a small notch in the dowel so
that it won't change alignment, then epoxy the whole assembly into the bottom of the
fuselage.
One bonus of this style, is that it does provide a strong mount for the stooge cable.

You can still notch the fuselage with a hand saw.

Rather than drilling the dowel, it's easier to just cut a lengthwise groove in the side of the dowel. Install it with the wire on the front side of the dowel, so any drag or rearward load on the skid pushes toward the dowel instead of pulling it away.

In that situation, I would make a U-shaped wire skid and drill two holes into the body and epoxy it in.
The soft rod left over from threaded pushrods is good for this.
