Joining Foam Wing for Take a Part Thunder Gazer
«

Folks I need help joining my first foam wing. Most post I found regarding the subject are for models that the wing is glued in the fuselage and mine is take apart so I would appreciate any input.
I got the foam wing set for the Thunder Gazer from Bob Hunt and I can’t afford to mess it up.
The halfs has a angled spar and I am in doubt if I need to make a swept joining spar to hold the two halfs and the B.C. and how to make them if needed.
Also what is suggest to reinforce the center of the wing for a take apart model?
Thank you
Martin

I'd email Bob Hunt, since you bought the wing from him. But I don't believe any splice plates are ever added to foam wings, even with the stub spars...just butt glue with the BC installed and then reinforce with fiberglass with epoxy resin. There is a need for plywood plates top and bottom to transfer the pulltest load from the BC axle to the wing and fuselage, and they will help the wing strength some. I'd probably put them on after the FG, but I haven't done a foam wing either. I also don't know how much FG to put on, and would like to. Maybe somebody will fill in the details.

Hi Steve,
thank you for your response. I have been exchanging emails with Mr. Hunt and I am in the right track now. I will post pictures of the job later.
Thx,
Martin
