Building a Banshee

Just a question for those of you who have built a Banshee.  The kit directions recommend you cut 1 1/2" off the nose.  Do they mean just come back 1 1/2" from the front of the fuselage and cut it off and then cut to adjust where the engine will be mounted?

 Mike something else I have seen on the forum's is just glue the wing cut out back in the fuse, and move the new cut out about 1-1,.5 ' forward of the old one.

  Gives the same effect..

Gives a different effect -- it does the same thing to the CG, but gives the airplane more modern "numbers".

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

I've just completed my Banshee. It all depends what engine you intend on using. As per the kit I believe it will balance fine with a Fox 35. If you are using a heavier engine then some length needs to come off. I chopped 1.5 inches off and it balanced exactly on the cg with an OS .40fp up front.

I went further with mine and extended the tail 3 inches, increased the span out to 53 inches, increased the stab and elevator span. Also changed the fin and outline of the fuselage. It flies well with these mods, just a shame my OS won't behave a little better.

I built my first & only Banshee for the 1990 Sig contest.

I cut 2" off the nose and nobody told me to.  It was that or 2 ounces of tail weight.
