I have seen a picture of it.  Can somebody explain the benefits of having one. Where to get it? Please elaborate on size, durability, material etc. Thanks.

Fernando: You can get them at www.towerhobbies.com They are very handy for cutting on and protecting the surface below. The web site should give you all the other info you need.

You can get cutting mats at any fabric store, Hobby Lobby or similar store that handles sewing or hobby equipment. They are a semi soft plastic, self healing material that preserves the point on your knife blades.

Depending on the size you want they are available at any craft dept ie. walmart/kmart/ plus house of fabric and fabric type stores. I have mostly seen them in green but other colors might be nice.

Better than that, they are usually marked in 1 / 8 th inch sq. grids. Fan tastic for cutting cloth hinges!  8)
