OTS Ringmaster question Please
« on: August 14, 2011, 07:28:23 PM »
Been a long time since I built a kit I'm enjoying the heck out of it, was about 45 years ago I built my last one.

I'm building a RSM OTS Ringmaster, here's my question, has anyone come up with a cleaner bellcrank install without the screw and nut sticking out of the wing that they would like to share.

Pictures would be a plus.....lol.

Below is the bell crank mounting I used for a Pat King 1/2 A Ringmaster. A similar mount should work for your OTS Ringmaster. The screw was cut to extend just to the level of the top sheeting and plywood bar was dropped over the screw end and cemented to the two adjacent ribs. Tite-bond was flooded on the bar when the sheeting went on to secure it to the sheeting. A similar bar was used on the lower side of the bell crank mount to secure it to the bottom sheeting.

Steve, I did something similar to John. I used 1/8" ply top and bottom for my Ringmaster S1 after cutting the pivot screw down to a smaller length. I also used a 2nd centre rib of 1/8 ply to add more strength, epoxied all in place then sheeted in the normal way    Phil
